Proof of Work (PoW) is of groundbreaking significance in the blockchain field. However, at present, its drawbacks are becoming increasingly prominent.
These drawbacks are mainly reflected in the following aspects:1. Enormous energy consumption; 2. Slow transaction confirmation speed and high fees; 3. Inability to effectively adapt to smart contracts; 4. Difficulty in scalability; 5. Risk of 51% attacks.
The limitations of PoW have given rise to more efficient and environmentally friendly consensus mechanisms such as Proof of Stake (PoS) and Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS). The transition of Ethereum from PoW to PoS is the most important evidence.
DPoS (Delegated Proof of Stake) is an improved PoS consensus mechanism with more obvious advantages:1. High performance and low latency; 2. Energy - saving and environmental - friendly; 3. Democratic governance; 4. Prevention of the "the rich get richer" problem.
The OPENVERSE network adopts the DPoS consensus mechanism.
